Today in class we did a simulation about poverty. We had two teams. 1, The Havealottas and the Haveanotta. The Havealottas were the rich group and the group with all the good items.

I was in the Haveanottas. The groups were random. The purpose of this Simulation was to get the feel of poverty and how a person/family comes from poverty to becoming wealthy and has enough to live freely.

An example of a kid who was in poverty but then became famous was Cristiano Ronaldo. As a kid Ronaldo suffered from growth pain and his family was very very poor.

The simulation mirrored the cycle of poverty by how we had to make somewhat unfair deals but then if we got more money we could progress to a more healthy and better life.

First Term in!:)
The first term in middle school. One word, WOW. This is like the next chapter in the book, instead the book is life. I really enjoy middle school, It’s really easy if you put your mind to it, for example let’s talk about soccer. Soccer is a game, and so is school, to me at least. And for soccer when I put my mind to it I know I will play well, if I put my mind to school it’s as easy as scoring a goal on my sister (no offence).I have been at SMUS since I was in grade 1, (2011) My favorite class so far is Math and PE. I also like Humanities. The teachers are AWESOME! This is a very good school and I love how much sports and other academic work they give us, So in my conclusion is if we all put our minds to school it will all be as easy as scrolling a webpage that’s why I’m going to be scrolling through grade 6.  

Pax is a story about a fox and a boy who get split and the journey to find each other again. Earlier this year I wrote a blog saying we found PAX.Click here to go to that blog post. The characters in PAX are: Peter, Dad, Vola, And now the foxes in the story: Pax, Runt, Bristle. Peter is a very happy kid and loves his fox Pax. War breaks out and Peter’s dad has to go to war. Before he has to go to war they have to drop off Pax. Peter gets really sad and he letś go Pax. One funny and Cute thing that Pax says to Peter is, ¨Oh no, heś leaking again.¨ The author for this book is Sara Pennypacker. She has added great Dialog and great feelings. 

Mr Stink

Favourite Part Of Story

 

My personal favourite part of the story was when the mom lies and says “I invited this stinky old tramp to live in my house” When Chloe actually did. The journalist was there when the mom said that and the journalist said “You’re probably going to be a MP and be on the newspaper!” This was my favourite part because she was drooling on the phone and she likes him even though she has a husband.

I wondered why the mom wanted to be the MP so much. Then I read some more and found out that she just wanted to be famous.

 

Connection

1.  When Chloe is sticking up for mr stink  when the MP is making fun of him while Chloe is scared of bullies.{This has happened to me when my friend was being bullied by a grade 5 kid and I stuck up for him.} 2. When Annabelle is trying to make Chloe in trouble. {I have done this before to my SISTERS and trying to get them into trouble.

 

During the first week of school I have been reading, Trash by Andy Mulligan. I am only at part one of the book(51 pages in) and now I have 171 pages to go. I really enjoy this book because most of the books I read the author does not grab me because the exciting part is at the end and even if I get to the end I get bored of this book and i feel like quitting the book. The characters have very funny personalities and humor. There  are three main characters, their names are Raphael, Gardo and Rat. The most interesting part so far, WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD!!

When they get 600 and 500 dollars and the police want the special thing back. I am saying special key because it will give it away too much. To be honest this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. The PA system was going off saying, “STAY CALM, DON’T PANIC YOU ARE GOING TO BE OKAY!” Of course John was panicking while Jack was keeping him calm.

Jack decided to take John down to the tea room to get him some Lavender Tea. When they got down to the tea room their hearts sank.

 

 

Chapter 2  

  

They were frightened. John ran up the stairs screaming, “ WATER IN THE BOAT ,THERE’S WATER IN THE BOAT!” John would not stop screaming.

“All I wanted was to give John some tea.” Jack mumbled. Then the PA system went off again, “ Hi guys we have taken a look at the boat and we are proud to say that the boat is sinking. Our advice for you are to get on a lifeboat and to stay calm. Thanks for traveling with awesome sauce ferries. Hope too see you soon.”

 Now Jack and John were lost. They started calling out for each other. But they could not find each other. Then all of a sudden the lights went out. Now if you were John you would be having a heart attack, but John just stayed calm and just kept on looking.

Just then Jack bumped into someone saying, “ GET OUT OF MY WAY I’M FINDING MY FRIEND!” Just then Jack realized that the person that he bumped into was actually John. They had to get out of the boat. They ran and ran to the edge of the boat.

All the lifeboats were gone, they were one of the only people on the ship left. They only had one option, To jump. John wanted to get his stuff and then go but Jack said no every time he asked. “Come on John we have no choice.” Said Jack angry.

Just then Jack took John by the arm and went to the end of the boat and Jumped. They landed in the water very cold even though it was only 7:30 at night. Jack was starting to freak out also. Just then they saw a very tiny island. “HAWAII!!! I’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO GO THERE!” John said so happy. John just laughed and said, “Dude, Not Hawaii look how small the island is.”      

Chapter 1

BEEP BEEP BEEP the alarms went off. Jack and John were on a cruise ship sound asleep until they heard the alarms. They woke up startled. John had a HUGE phobia of ships so this just made it worse.

There was an announcement on the PA system.

John started to panic. John was being tackled by Jack saying something blurry. He couldn’t really understand. Just then Jack woke up John saying, “Pack your bags John, we are going on a cruise!”

“Thank God it was JUST a dream,” said John.

Jack and John both packed their bags and left their home to go to the dock. John is always afraid that he will not pack something or forget it. Then Jack siad, as he always does, “Okay Melman, you’re going to be okay.”

Finally they got on the ship and left. Like always, John was worrying about the ship sinking or forgetting something while Jack was enjoying the all-day buffet.

When they were past the turning and big waves,  Jack and John both met up at the front deck. They thought they should go to their rooms and unpack. So they did.

They found out that their rooms were room 401. “Hey that’s my favourite highway 401, the one in Ontario to Montreal,” John said proudly. Jack just rolled his eyes at him. Then they opened their bags and started to unpack.

In the last 2 days we have been at Disney World. We stayed in a radiator springs hotel (cars) I have enjoyed it, but there were SO many people. We have also been feeling like we are popstars and celebrity’s from our car. The most fun experience so far in Disney World is probably the Star Wars ride that my dad and I did. I was the spy witch was pretty cool. Out of the 25 people and 3 kids including me I was the spy. That was awesome. I will never forget how much fun Disney World was but I will also never forget how many people there were. I rate Disney World a 6 out of 10.  I don’t think I will be going back to Disney World.

It felt like forever sitting in that Toyota van. Singing and yelling and talking really loud.

We were heading up to my friend’s cabin. His name was Ty.

Once we got there it was 3:00. Once we unpacked it was 3:10. Their cabin was right in the woods.

We were just about to play a game called manhunt but before we could start, Ty’s mom said that there are a lot of bears so we would have to be careful. And at the time I did not know what bears were.

She said, “If you see one, scream really loud and back away slowly.” The people we were playing with were Ty, Cate (my sister), Jack (Ty’s brother), Peyton (Ty’s sister) and myself.

Cate was it and then she counted down from 30.

I hid right beside a bush.

After I hid I saw something move. Then I backed up a bit.

Then I saw a deer. I thought the deer was a bear so I made a lot of noise and backed away slowly.

I saw a baby deer behind the big deer so after that point I ran and ran and boy was I running.

After I got back to the cabin I called everybody in because I did not want the others to get hurt by it. I told the others about it but they did not believe me.

Then I forgot about it and enjoyed the rest of my time.
